My Take on Submarining
You know, I wrote this now about 10 years ago, when I first posted this to my site. It probably sounded crazy to people at the time. But looking back, I think my foresight has been 20/20.
There can be no doubt that 40 years of Strategic Deterrence, with the Polaris, Posiden and Trident programs have brought about the peace we enjoy today. However, we must not let our guard down, and be prudent, for the future is always an uncertainty. Threats from hard line Communist countries such as China, and the unpredictability of countries such as Iraq, North Korea, and various other known terrorist organizations lead us continue our defensive posture. The United States must do what it can to stop the proliferation of Nuclear Weapons through out the world, and if it can not, then it must be prepared to fight! —Judd Spitzer 2/3/96Recently we have come to enjoy a certain feeling of non-chalant freedom. I think that with this feeling we have begun to slowly let our guard down. This is an unfortunate predicament that is occurring more and more. Defense, Space, and our ability to progress beyond more than we are today. Submarines are needed even more today. Think about how safe we really are.
The last time you traveled by air, you were probably asked for identification. That’s because the unseen/unforseen threat is there. Sure we would like to ignore it, and hope that it goes away, but we live in a world of militaries, and terrorism. It is up to us to ensure that we have the best people, and technology working hand in hand to keep us a free nation. — Judd 8/25/97.
